Masks and Assumptions Make for Poor Companions

As promised, I have the short story written and edited within the day, although barely.

I believe this story is overall decent. Probably not my best and it likely has some content issues, but this is where it stands for now. As always, I will go back and edit it again at some point.

Let me know what you think.

With that said, I am planning on some point in the future (probably not this summer) to sit down and re-edit all of my short stories. Keep an eye out for that, but it likely wont happen for some time. However, any suggestions and advice you’ve given me has been (and will be) recorded and will be revisited.

I am truly grateful for each and every one of you that has taken the time to swing by this blog. Thank you.

Life Put On Repeat

I like to consider this a work in progress.

As I mentioned earlier, I would be posting a new short story in the near future. And as promised, here’s the latest of my writing attempts:  Life Put On Repeat

This is easily the shortest of any story I’ve written. For that reason and others, I am considering this story still a work in progress. It’s ‘done,’ in the sense that everything I wanted in the story is there, but I think it could use some more development. The only reason it stands where it does is everything I’ve thought of to add to the story didn’t work for one reason or another.

Let me know your suggestions.

Oh, and this song:

The Product of a Saturday Spent at the Coffee Shop

In a matter of two days, I was able to write another short story for my final workshop. Typically, I like to spend several days crafting a story, but time is limited as the semester draws to a close and I had only a week to begin with. As a result, this story is very simple, kind of short, but I’m relatively happy with the outcome.

As always, I’d appreciate any and all feedback concerning the story.

Now, a shout out to my sponsors*:

This story is brought to you by the awesome music of my friend Christian Yoder. I’ve spent the past weekend listening to his newest songs on repeat, and you should do the same. Check it:

*By which I mean music that facilitated my writing. I’m not cool enough to be paid for blogging. Yet.

The Principles of Leave No Trace

If I was more proactive with my life, I would have used tools available on this amazing blogging site and written a blog yesterday, then programmed it to post today with the uploaded story I turned in today.Which is what I did last time. But, I didn’t.

Anyway, I would appreciate any and all feedback you can provide on this story. This is the second of three for this semester and, I hope some amount of improvement will be evident from the first to the last.

Ladies and gentleman, here you are: Principles of Leave No Trace

Coffee with a King

As I’ve mentioned previously, I am enrolled in a Writing Fiction class this semester with the mindset of improving my writing techniques and my writing habits. The class requires each student t compose three short stories for the class to critique and workshop on selected dates. Each student hands a copy to the class a week before the workshop date to allow time for reading and responding.

Today marks the due date of my first short story. Thanks to the diverse capabilities of WordPress, I am able to make this story easily available to any one interested in reading. I would appreciate any and all comments. And, it’s only nine pages, so it’s not a terribly burdensome read. Just click the link provided and the document should download to your computer.

Thank you for your time.
